finalRender offers various options to control the color balance within an image. Besides the Color Mapping found in the finalRender Camera controls, the 3ds Max native Exposure Control is supported as well.

You should always use the Exposure Control offered by 3ds Max when you intend to handle Render Elements or Render To Texture outputs, and want to see the Color Mapping effects offered by finalRender.

fR Color Mapping

Active – to enable the color mapping feature in the Exposure control keep or activate the Active button. finalRender Color Mapping lets you adjust the relative brightness and saturation of colors within your scenes. Below is an image that does not use any color mapping. Please use it as a comparison to the color mapped output.

Type dropdown – There are four types of color curves that you can choose from:

Linear – colors are modified in a linear way based on their brightness.

Exponential – when chosen finalRender will saturate the colors based on their brightness. This can be useful to prevent burned-out colors in very bright areas.

HSV Exponential – is similar to the Exponential mode, but it will preserve the hue and saturation of the color. Only the value will be changed accordingly.

Multipliers – There are two spinners present to help control the image color map. The left spinner controls the darker or shaded regions in the rendered image, while the spinner on the right defines the color behavior for brighter areas in the image.

Gamma – applies a standard Gamma curve to the rendered output.

Gain – multiplies the Gamma curve value

Gamma – increase this value to get a brighter image.

对于控制明亮场景中的过度色溢现象十分有效。

下面两张只用 hsv 指数模式:与指数模式很相似,不同之处是保持色相和饱和度。只对强度值作相应调整。

多层, 两个层来帮助控制图像,左图的图是控制阴影和着色区,右图是限定了图像中色彩的作用区和光亮区。

Gamma 设定渲染输出基准亮度曲线。

Gain 增值丰富伽马曲线范围。

Tint is used to simulate an optical effect that very often appears in panoramic photography. Objects in the distance tend to get a bluish color tone. Another use of this effect is simulating light fading into the distance (use a gray gradient). The tinting levels are based on the position and ranges set in your Target Cameras. The Color Mapping controls let you refine the overall saturation and brightness levels of the rendered image as well.

染色是用来模拟全景照片中常见的一种视觉效应。远处的物体被罩上了一层蓝色的调子。另外一种效果是模拟光线由近及远逐渐减弱(使用灰度渐变)。
染色的层级是依照目标相机的位置和目标点的距离。
色彩控制是用来调节渲染图的色调和亮度。

例子:和环境里面的曝光控制共同使用

Use Tint checkbox – Activate this checkbox to enable the color tinting effect based on the distance of objects to the camera.

Front Color – Use this gradient to define the gradual change of color for objects in front of the focal point (usually the Camera Target) to the Near Range.

Back Color – Use this gradient to define the gradual color change of the objects behind the focal point of the camera to the Far Range. When you use a gradient from white to dark blue you can simulate an atmospheric haze effect.

Use Color-Mapping checkbox – Activate this checkbox to enable the color mapping feature. The Color Mapping lets you adjust the relative brightness and saturation of colors within your finalRender scenes. Below is an image that does not use any color mapping. Please use it as a comparison to the color mapped output.
